Seagate launches enterprise SSDs

The storage vendor also unveiled new high speed Savvio conventional hard drives and a 3TB Constellation ES HDD.

Seagate has launched two enterprise-focussed solid-state drives (SSD), as well as three new conventional hard drives targeting the enterprise market.

The 2.5in Seagate Pulsar.2 SSD is an MLC-based drive available in capacities of up to 800GB. According to Seagate it has been "been designed from the ground up for the enterprise" and can survive up to 15 petabytes' worth of drive writes during its lifetime. It is can be used with both 6Gb/s SAS and SATA 6Gb/s interfaces.

The Pulsar XT.2 is a 2.5in SLC-based SSD available in capacities of up to 400GB. According to Seagate it is the fastest drive offered by the company. Seagate rates the drive as supporting up to 25 petabytes of writes during its lifespan. It uses a 6Gb/s SAS interface.

The Savvio 15K.3 and Savvio 10K.5 are conventional 2.5in HDDs. The Seagate Savvio 10K.5 has a 10,000rpm spin speed and is available in capacities of up to 900GB. The Savvio 15K.3 is the highest performing conventional (spinning) hard drive available, according to Seagate, with a spin speed of 15,000rpm and a capacity of up 300GB.

Seagate's new Constellation ES.2 7200rpm hard drive offers a capacity of 3TB in a 3.5in form factor.
