Google fixes Calendar glitch

The problem prevented many users from logging into their accounts

Google has fixed a problem that prevented a significant number of users from logging into their Calendar accounts.

Although Google first acknowledged the problem around 11 a.m. U.S. Eastern Time on Wednesday, users began logging complaints in the official Calendar discussion forum on Tuesday.

Google suggested that to work around the problem, users should clear their browser cookies or try signing out and then back in to their accounts. The issue was fixed by 12:15 p.m.

The problem didn't affect organizations that use Calendar as part of the Google Apps Premier hosted collaboration and communication suite, which costs US$50 per user per year, includes IT controls and comes with a 99.9 percent uptime guarantee.

Other Google services hit with bugs in recent days included the Blogger blog hosting and publishing service, the App Engine application development and hosting platform, and the Postini e-mail security and archiving suite.
